鼻竇炎大多數不會引起來眼睛癢，鼻竇炎會引起來眼眶周圍的疼痛。只有過敏性鼻炎才會引起來眼睛癢，鼻竇炎是鼻腔鼻竇的急慢性的炎癥，檢查看可能鼻竇的黏膜會充血腫脹，鼻竇里面可能會有膿性分泌物。
因為是個炎癥，不管是急性還是慢性的炎癥，出現的癥狀如果已累及到眼睛，更多的是眼眶周圍的疼痛，而不會出現癢的感覺。只有過敏性鼻炎才會出現眼睛癢。因為過敏性鼻炎是因為機體的免疫系統(tǒng)對空氣當中的某些成分過敏，當過敏原隨著呼吸進入到鼻腔，就會在鼻腔的局部引起過敏反應。過敏反應會釋放組織胺、白三烯這種遞質，刺激鼻腔周圍的神經末梢，導致鼻子黏膜會水腫、鼻子會堵、鼻子癢、打噴嚏。
這種癢主要是神經遞質刺激神經末梢導致的。如果病變比較廣泛就會累及到鼻子周圍的結構，比如會引起來眼睛癢、嗓子癢、耳朵癢。所以鼻竇炎不會引起眼睛癢，只有過敏性鼻炎才會引起眼睛癢。
