嘴角起泡通常是口唇皰疹，是由1型或2型單純皰疹病毒(HSV)引起的，但以前者為最常見的病因。
2型皰疹病毒通常引發(fā)生殖器的皰疹感染，但它也會(huì)導(dǎo)致口唇皰疹?？诖桨捳詈艹Ｒ?。一旦感染上1型或2型單純皰疹病毒，可能永遠(yuǎn)根除不掉。病毒會(huì)潛伏在神經(jīng)中，在大部分的時(shí)間里都不會(huì)引起任何癥狀。但在以下情況下可能會(huì)激活病毒，并引發(fā)口唇皰疹：精神緊張，陽光照射，激素水平的變化(月經(jīng)前，懷孕中期，更年期或服用口服避孕藥)，體力透支、過度疲勞、機(jī)體免疫力降低，以及身體其他部位的感染。嘴角起泡一般可以自愈，不需要特殊處理。
