手術(shù)都具有一定的風(fēng)險(xiǎn)，比如小兒患者全麻有風(fēng)險(xiǎn)，發(fā)生幾率較低，術(shù)前會做詳細(xì)的檢查與評估。手術(shù)后也會出現(xiàn)一系列常見并發(fā)癥，如：眼瞼閉合不全，干眼癥，暴露性角膜炎，兩側(cè)眼瞼不對稱，上瞼內(nèi)翻倒睫等。
先天性上瞼下垂以手術(shù)治療為主，特別是小兒患者，如果遮蓋瞳孔應(yīng)盡早手術(shù)，一般于三歲左右進(jìn)行，目的是恢復(fù)外觀對稱，防止視功能障礙，避免產(chǎn)生形覺剝奪性弱視。
后天性上瞼下垂應(yīng)首先判斷是否為其他全身病引起，需先進(jìn)行原發(fā)病的治療，無效時(shí)再考慮手術(shù)治療。手術(shù)的目的是改善提上瞼肌力量和額肌力量，以提上瞼肌縮短術(shù)、額肌懸吊術(shù)為主，另外還有提上瞼肌前徙術(shù)、闊筋膜或硅膠懸吊術(shù)、muller肌縮短術(shù)及提上瞼肌修補(bǔ)術(shù)等。
