乙型肝炎病毒感染人體肝臟后，會在肝細胞內(nèi)進行復(fù)制及合成蛋白，其中包括乙型肝炎病毒表面抗原，即S抗原，為包膜蛋白。機體免疫能力識別S抗原后，會產(chǎn)生乙型肝炎表面抗體。
乙型肝炎表面抗體是一種保護性的抗體，而乙型肝炎表面抗原陽性則代表被乙肝病毒感染。乙型肝炎表面抗體能中和掉乙肝病毒的感染力，保護人體免受乙肝病毒再度襲擊。
一般，多數(shù)人群注射乙肝疫苗后會產(chǎn)生乙型肝炎表面抗體，建議進行定量檢測，高于100IU/L，其保護能力正常，如低于此數(shù)值，建議繼續(xù)注射乙肝疫苗加強針。通常來講，乙型肝炎表面抗體滴度3-5年內(nèi)會逐漸降低，因此3-5年后建議復(fù)查乙型肝炎表面抗體滴度。
