鼻咽囊腫與鼻咽癌在本質(zhì)上完全不同。鼻咽囊腫多是由于鼻咽部的咽囊，反復(fù)炎癥刺激導(dǎo)致引流不暢，最終形成黏液潴留，導(dǎo)致囊腫，本質(zhì)上是一種良性病變。而鼻咽癌是發(fā)生在鼻咽部的惡性腫瘤，反復(fù)炎癥刺激是惡性腫瘤的一種誘因。雖然鼻咽囊腫也有炎癥的反復(fù)刺激，但是癌變的可能性相對(duì)還是非常低。雖然不是一定不發(fā)生癌變，但癌變可能性非常低。
要想明確具體病變，到底是鼻咽囊腫，還是鼻咽癌，需要病理作為金標(biāo)準(zhǔn)，才能最后確定。雖然能從臨床表現(xiàn)或者局部表現(xiàn)做出大概判斷，但是想明確診斷，還要依靠病理診斷來區(qū)分。
