視神經(jīng)萎縮不是不能治好的。視神經(jīng)萎縮病理上通常很難恢復(fù)到視神經(jīng)沒有損傷的狀態(tài)。即使，患者視力和視野在恢復(fù)中，醫(yī)生在OCT的檢查上仍可以看到明顯的視神經(jīng)纖維層在逐漸的變薄。同時(shí)，病人的眼底檢查變化可能不會(huì)太大，視神經(jīng)萎縮本身并不能痊愈，但是這并不意味著視神經(jīng)萎縮就不能治好了。即使視神經(jīng)萎縮的臨床的表現(xiàn)依然存在，但是患者視神經(jīng)的功能如視力、視野或者是顏色的恢復(fù)都還有機(jī)會(huì)。
視神經(jīng)萎縮之后視覺的功能，即視神經(jīng)的傳導(dǎo)功能依舊存在，所以患者視力的恢復(fù)的功能還是可以好轉(zhuǎn)的。
