包皮手術(shù)沒有明確年齡限制，正常只要發(fā)現(xiàn)存在包莖，需要盡早解決，年齡較小也可手術(shù)。若只是包皮過長，在青春期10到14歲年齡段進(jìn)行手術(shù)最好。此時(shí)陰莖正在發(fā)育，發(fā)育時(shí)進(jìn)行包皮手術(shù)效果最佳。
正常人包皮長短合適，不管在疲軟狀態(tài)或者勃起狀態(tài)，龜頭都可自然露出來。若包皮把龜頭蓋住，在正常疲軟情況下龜頭不能露出，稱為包皮長。包皮長分兩種情況：包皮過長和包莖。若僅僅是包皮過長，包皮可以翻過來使龜頭露出，一般不需要手術(shù)；包莖指包皮長且包皮翻不過來，龜頭露不出來。因此包莖患者要做割包皮手術(shù)。
