五行針灸是一種比較古老的針刺方法，源于中醫(yī)的典籍《黃帝內(nèi)經(jīng)》。針灸的流派分為兩大流派，一種是定向的針刺流派，另一種是自然療愈的流派，五行針灸就屬于自然療愈的流派。五行針灸不針對(duì)于具體的癥狀進(jìn)行治療，而是針對(duì)這個(gè)患者他具體的內(nèi)在的五行屬性，調(diào)整內(nèi)在五行的失衡狀態(tài)，這是五行針灸特色的方面。
五行針灸比較關(guān)鍵的點(diǎn)就是要識(shí)別患者五行的主導(dǎo)是哪一行，每個(gè)人都是五行具足的，但是每個(gè)人都有自己的主導(dǎo)一行，這個(gè)主導(dǎo)一行決定了面對(duì)世界的方式、方法、思維的角度等。所以當(dāng)患病時(shí)，軀體的反應(yīng)是不一樣的，五行針灸主要就是在調(diào)整患者內(nèi)在的五行的失衡狀態(tài)。
