動脈粥樣硬化癥實(shí)際是一個不科學(xué)的概念，可以理解為由于動脈粥樣硬化引起的一些癥狀，特指腦動脈硬化癥。脂質(zhì)代謝障礙為動脈粥樣硬化的病變基礎(chǔ)，其特點(diǎn)是受累動脈病變從內(nèi)膜開始，一般先有脂質(zhì)和復(fù)合糖類積聚、出血及血栓形成，進(jìn)而纖維組織增生及鈣質(zhì)沉著，并有動脈中層逐漸蛻變和鈣化，導(dǎo)致動脈壁增厚變硬、血管腔狹窄，如一定的狹窄，供血就不足會引起缺血癥狀。嚴(yán)重血管閉塞就會導(dǎo)致神經(jīng)組織、神經(jīng)細(xì)胞壞死，導(dǎo)致腦梗死出現(xiàn)一些臨床癥狀。
