中耳炎的原因大致可以分為以下幾種情況：
第一是感染，主要是指細菌感染，其中主要致病菌為流感嗜血桿菌和肺炎鏈球菌。
第二是外傷，外傷可以導致中耳炎的發(fā)生。
第三是全身的免疫狀態(tài)差。小兒免疫系統(tǒng)尚未完全發(fā)育成熟，這可能是小兒分泌性中耳炎發(fā)病率較高的原因之一。
第四是鼻腔的感染，逆行導致中耳炎的發(fā)作。中耳炎經(jīng)常是急性發(fā)作，通過鼓膜穿刺抽液或者鼓膜切開術等治療，可以痊愈。但是有一部分中耳炎，反復遷延不愈，稱為慢性中耳炎。
