胰腺神經(jīng)內(nèi)分泌腫瘤(pNET)與外分泌腫瘤相比，相對少見，占所有胰腺腫瘤的1-5％，其治療方法及療效與外分泌腫瘤相比完全不同。胰腺神經(jīng)內(nèi)分泌腫瘤本身也是一個疾病群，涵蓋起源于胰腺、有共同祖細(xì)胞的不同系列的腫瘤。過去，PNET通常稱為胰腺“胰島細(xì)胞”腫瘤或胰腺“類癌”。
胰腺神經(jīng)內(nèi)分泌腫瘤分為功能性和無功能性胰腺神經(jīng)內(nèi)分泌腫瘤。無功能性pNET約占75％-85％。功能性pNET常見的有胰島素瘤和胃泌素瘤。其余的功能性pNET均少見，包括生長抑素瘤、胰高糖素瘤、生長激素瘤等。
2010年世界衛(wèi)生組織將分化良好的pNET分為低級別(G1)和中級別(G2)兩類。所有分化不良的NET均為高級別(G3)神經(jīng)內(nèi)分泌癌。這些分級類別已經(jīng)驗(yàn)證用于PNET患者的預(yù)后分層。大多數(shù)PNET是分化良好的腫瘤，即使發(fā)生轉(zhuǎn)移，也有相對較長的自然病程。但是，雖然組織學(xué)分級對于判斷預(yù)后有用，但并非是判斷PNET良惡性的指標(biāo)。
